Neonatal proximal femoral epiphysiolysis

M Wojtowycz, RJ Starshak and JR Sty

The authors pressent two cases of proximal femoral epiphysiolysis (PFE) in neonates. Radiographs show superolateral displacement of the proximal femoral metaphysis in relation to a normal acetabulum, which differentiates PFE from a congenital hip dislocation. Early diagnosis and treatment of PFE can prevent coxa vara.
