  		Diagram shows proposed pathways that lead to contrast medium-induced nephrotoxicity. These pathways include hemodynamic effects (direct and indirect), direct contrast medium (CM) molecule toxicity, and endogenous biochemical disturbance. Interrelationships and/or combinations of these effects are also possibilities. NO = nitric oxide.
