I am pleased to introduce Amon Y. Liu, MD, as a new Deputy Editor who will become a member of the editorial team of Radiology. He has been providing us his insights for quite some time, and we are delighted that he has accepted a position as Deputy Editor for our Journal.
Dr Liu earned his MD degree in 1992 from the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, Illinois. Prior to that, he received a BA degree in economics from Yale University, New Haven, Connecticut, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and summa cum laude, along with distinction in economics. After medical school, he served as a resident at the Department of Diagnostic Radiology of the University of Chicago Hospitals. On completion of his residency, he trained as a fellow in neuroradiology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, Pennsylvania, after which he undertook an additional fellowship in the Departments of Neuroradiology and Health Services Research at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center in Philadelphia. Dr Liu completed 2 more years of fellowship training in interventional neuroradiology at Stanford University Medical Center, Palo Alto, California. On completion of that fellowship, he joined the Department of Radiology at the School of Medicine, Virginia Commonwealth University, Richmond, as an Assistant Professor of Radiology.
Dr Liu has several publications to his credit and has presented several papers at major society meetings. He has also served as visiting professor on a number of occasions and is the recipient of several honors, in addition to those already noted, including Cohn Scholar, Roy Scholar, and Board of Governors Scholar while at Rice University, Houston, Texas, prior to his experience at Yale University.
Dr Liu is certified by the American Board of Radiology and also holds the Certificate of Added Qualifications in neuroradiology. Currently, he is an Assistant Professor of Radiology and Neurosurgery and is Chief of the Section of Interventional Neuroradiology at the Department of Radiology, School of Medicine, Virginia Commonwealth University.
