He then returned to the University of Berne where he completed a residency in radiology and later a fellowship in interventional radiology.

In 1991, Dr Stoupis spent a month at the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology in Washington, DC, where he completed a radiologic pathology course. A year later, he returned to the United States for an 18-month fellowship in MR imaging and body imaging at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Gainesville.
