Dr Bevley Dan Holt died on December 28, 2004, in Gainesville, Fla, at the age of 78 years.

Bevley Dan Holt, MD, 1926–2004

 
Dr Holt was born and raised in Milan, Tenn. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and attended Duke University (Durham, NC) thereafter, where he received his BS degree in electrical engineering in 1948. He spent the next 10 years working in private business and engineering. He returned to school to earn his MD degree, which he obtained from the University of Tennessee in 1964. Dr Holt specialized in radiology and completed his residency at the University of Tennessee College of Medicine.

In 1968, Dr Holt went into private practice in general diagnostic radiology. He conducted radiology consultation contracts in government hospitals and performed locum tenens assignments for many years. Before retiring in 1997, Dr Holt served in the Radiology Department of the Veterans Affairs Medical Center hospital in Mountain Home, Tenn.

Dr Holt became a member of Radiological Society of North America (RSNA) in 1977 and was known to look forward to the RSNA Annual Meeting each year in Chicago. He was also a member of the American Medical Association, the American College of Radiology, the Southern Medical Association, and the Tennessee Medical Association.

A loving father, husband, and friend, Dr Holt touched many with his kindness and inquisitive nature.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Henrietta Holt; two sons and daughters-in-law, James and Louise Holt of Cave Creek, Ariz, and Richard and Kim Holt of Lakeland, Fla; five grandchildren, Laura Holt of White River Junction, Vt, Megan Holt of Pensacola, Fla, Joseph Holt of Lakeland, Fla, and Jason and Joshua Holt of Cave Creek, Tenn; two sisters, Ruth McMullan of Newton, Miss, and Mildred Miles of Gibson, Tenn; two brothers, Robert Holt of Knoxville, Tenn, and David Holt of Fort Lauderdale, Fla; and several nieces and nephews.
