Dr Kopp and colleagues wrote an excellent article, published in the December 2001 issue of Radiology, on the selection of an image reconstruction window for coronary computed tomographic angiography (1). In their analysis, coronary artery segments were defined according to the American Heart Association (AHA) reporting system. A figure (fig 2) with a reference to the AHA was presented to describe segmental anatomy of coronary arteries. However, the numbering of the coronary segments was altered from that of the original AHA committee report (2), without any statement of such in the article. Segment 12 should be the obtuse marginal branch (labeled as the distal circumflex artery in the figure). Segment 13 should be the distal circumflex artery (labeled as the atrial circumflex branch in the figure). Because the work of Dr Kopp and colleagues was cited in many articles, this may lead to confusion in the description of coronary artery segments in future studies.
